Manila commuters will enjoy the FREE WiFi access in selected area for the meantime. The Manila city governments is planning to build it in more area around the city in partners of private sectors.
“These projects are timely because the city has no funds. The private companies will build these at no cost to the city and yet the people will benefit,” as stated by the City Mayor, Joseph Estrada.
The FREE WiFi waiting sheds has a modern design, from bleachers and trash bins. The waiting sheds area also equipped with CCTV cameras for more security, plus an environmentally-friendly solar-powered LED signboards for income generated advertisements and other city important announcement.
Local TV news station reported that the FREE WiFi waiting sheds is already functional in designated area as of the inaugurations last Friday. Some of the target area of installation of FREE Wifi waiting sheds are, in front of University of Sto. Thomas, Quirino-Taft Avenue, Park N’ Ride Terminal, España area, Manila Multimoda Terminal, Luneta Park, V. Mapa, Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard, Pureza Street, and Arlegui Street.
Since the Philippines once coined as the texter’s capital of the world, the city improvements will benefits some Filipinos and will maximize the use of their cellphones and gadgets in accessing social media sites, like Facebook and Twitter.
While in some country in the world this concept is already implemented in different public commuter’s station like bus stops, train stations, downtown parks and other public access area. Countries and city like United States, Denver, Texas, Seattle and Dubai. Dubai not only provide a FREE WiFi access it is also fully air-conditioned bus shelter.
