Lea Salonga and other Filipino individuals and organization had been honored at The Outstanding Filipino Americans in New York in the celebration of Filipino American History Month Celebration. The awarding of TOFA-NY was held last October 29, 2011 at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in New York.

According to abs-cbnnews.com Salonga’s Heritage Award was given to her because of her unending support to Filipino culture. The Tony Award-winning Salonga was also recently named a Disney Legend for her vocal recordings as Princess Jasmine and Mulan in "Aladdin" and "Mulan" respectively.
